Here's what to bring for the best experience:
Essential:
- Comfortable clothes (you'll be sitting in sand, moving around)
- Closed-toe shoes (sneakers or light hiking shoes—sandals aren't great for sandboarding)
- Sunglasses (the morning sun is bright and low on the horizon)
- Camera or smartphone (you'll want it for sunrise and activities)
Recommended:
- Light jacket or sweater (mornings can be cool, especially in winter)
- Sunscreen (even morning sun reflects off sand)
- Hat or cap (for after sunrise)
- Small backpack (to carry your stuff hands-free)
Optional:
- Extra camera battery (cold morning air drains batteries faster)
- Scarf or buff (traditional desert style, plus protects from sand)
- Any personal medications you need
Not needed:
- Water (we provide plenty throughout)
- Food (breakfast is included)
- Towels or blankets (available at camp)
Dress in layers—it starts cool and warms up quickly after sunrise.
