Let's be direct: summer afternoon desert safaris are brutal. We run them because some people insist, but we strongly recommend morning during summer months.
The Temperature Reality:
Dubai summer (June, July, August, September) sees afternoon desert temperatures of 42-48°C, sometimes pushing 50°C. That's 108-118°F. At those temperatures:
Morning Difference:
Morning desert temperatures in summer are 30-35°C (86-95°F). That's still hot by many standards, but it's comfortable compared to afternoon. Activities are enjoyable rather than endurance tests.
Real Talk from Experience:
We've had guests do afternoon summer safaris who spent the whole time just trying to cool down. They barely enjoyed activities because they were focused on the heat. Kids crying, adults miserable, everyone chugging water. It's not fun.
Morning summer safari? Different story. Yes it's warm, but it's pleasant-warm. People actually enjoy sandboarding instead of rushing through it to get back to air conditioning.
Our Recommendation:
October-April: Choose based on schedule preference. Both work fine.
May and September: Morning strongly recommended but afternoon survivable.
June-August: Do morning. Just trust us on this one.
Some people say they want the authentic desert heat experience. That's fine, but there's a difference between experiencing heat and suffering through it. Morning safari in summer gives you plenty of authentic desert heat without the genuine danger of afternoon.
