When does the afternoon/evening safari start?

Just for comparison, evening tours start much later to catch the sunset around 5:30-6:00 PM. If you are not a morning person, the afternoon slot is your alternative. However, remember that the afternoon slot takes up your whole evening, returning at 9:00 PM. The morning slot leaves your evening free.
